Last updated 10 October 2026. Prices and rules have changed several times this year, so we review this guide every month.

Claude certification in India is now a serious career question. Infosys, TCS and Wipro have each committed to certifying 10,000 people, and Kerala-headquartered UST plans to certify 20,000. Yet most students and working professionals who search for it hit the same wall at registration: you cannot book the exam with a personal Gmail address.

This guide explains the whole process in plain language. You will learn what the four Anthropic certification exams are, who is allowed to take them, what they cost in rupees once your bank adds its charges, and how to prepare for free, starting today.

Quick answer: how do you get Claude certified in India?

  1. Check eligibility. Exams are open only to people at organisations in the Claude Partner Network, using a company email address. Membership is free for organisations bringing Claude to market.
  2. Choose your exam. Associate (non-technical), Developer, Architect Foundations, or Architect Professional.
  3. Prepare. Use the free Anthropic Academy courses and the official exam guide for your track, or join a structured Claude certification training if you want guided practice.
  4. Register and pay in the Anthropic Partner Academy. Fees run from $99 to $175, about ₹9,400 to ₹16,600 before card charges.
  5. Take the proctored exam through Pearson, online or at a test centre. You need a scaled score of 720 out of 1,000 to pass.
  6. Renew every 12 months. On-time renewal is free.

What is the Claude Certification Program?

The Claude Certification Program is Anthropic's official, proctored credential for people who build and deploy solutions with Claude. Anthropic launched it on March 12, 2026, together with the Claude Partner Network and a $100 million commitment to partner training and support.

It began with a single exam, Claude Certified Architect – Foundations. On July 23, 2026, Anthropic expanded it to four role-based certifications. By then more than 36,000 consultants across more than 1,300 organisations had been certified, and more than 400,000 people had completed Claude training through the free Anthropic Partner Academy.

Three things make it different from the many "AI certificates" sold online:

  • It is issued by Anthropic itself. Earlier Claude training sat inside AWS and Google Cloud programmes. This is Anthropic's own credential.
  • It is proctored and identity-verified. Pearson delivers every exam, online or at a test centre. You show a government ID, the exam is closed book, and AI assistants are banned during the test.
  • Passing earns a verifiable digital badge on Credly, which employers and clients can check.

Certification versus a course certificate

This is the most common confusion in India. Anthropic Academy's free courses give you a certificate of completion when you finish. That is useful proof of learning, but it is not a Claude certification. A Claude certification means you passed one of the four proctored exams.

The same applies to private institutes and training providers, including Brain Cyber Solutions and Maattam. No training provider in India can issue an official Claude certification. A course can prepare you for the exam; only Anthropic, through Pearson, can certify you.

Why Indian IT companies care

Anthropic ranks its partner firms partly by how many certified people they have. The top tier, Global Premier, needs 1,000 certified practitioners. That is why the services firms that employ huge numbers of people in India have made big public commitments:

CompanyCertification commitment
Accenture50,000 professionals
PwC30,000 professionals
UST20,000 individuals
Capgemini20,000 professionals
DXC20,000 certifications
Deloitte15,000 professionals
KPMG15,000 professionals
Infosys10,000
TCS10,000
Wipro10,000 front-line delivery experts within 18 months
Cognizant10,000 developers and engineers

For job seekers and IT professionals in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, this means Claude skills are moving from "nice to have" to a hiring filter at these firms. Exam format (same for all four)

  • Duration: 120 minutes. Plan for about 135 minutes in total, including check-in.
  • Question types: multiple choice and scenario-based multiple response. Each question tells you how many answers to pick.
  • Passing score: 720 on a scale of 100 to 1,000.
  • Results: shown on screen immediately, with a domain-by-domain score report.
  • Language: English only.
  • Minimum age: 18.
  • Validity: 12 months.

Claude Certified Associate – Foundations (CCAO-F)

This is the business user exam. No coding or API experience is required. It suits marketing, operations, project management, education and communications professionals who build Claude Projects and use Claude as a daily work tool.

It has 60 questions across seven domains. The largest, Output Evaluation and Validation at 21%, tests whether you can check Claude's work rather than just prompt it. One catch: the Associate exam does not count towards a company's Partner Network tier, so some employers may sponsor it less readily. The CCAO-F training offered through Maattam is built around exactly these domains.

Claude Certified Developer – Foundations (CCDV-F)

This is for engineers who write the code: building with the Claude API, tool use, Claude Code and MCP, from a first integration to production agents. If you ship Claude-powered features more than you design whole systems, start here.

Claude Certified Architect – Foundations (CCAR-F)

The original exam, often searched for simply as "Claude Certified Architect". It covers Claude Code, the Claude Agent SDK, the Claude API and MCP. Anthropic recommends at least six months of hands-on experience building with these tools. The CCAR-F training offered through Maattam is for people with a development background.

You get 60 questions built around four scenarios drawn from a bank of six, such as a customer support agent, a multi-agent research system, Claude Code in a CI/CD pipeline, and structured data extraction. The domain weights are:

DomainWeight
Agentic architecture27%
Claude Code configuration and workflows20%
Prompts and structured output20%
Tools and MCP18%
Context and reliability15%

Claude Certified Architect – Professional (CCAR-P)

The advanced credential, covering integration architecture, governance and evaluation for large enterprises. It has no formal prerequisite, but Foundations is the natural starting point.

Which exam should you take?

  • You use Claude at work but do not code: Associate.
  • You write code that calls the Claude API: Developer.
  • You design multi-step agent systems and configure Claude Code for teams: Architect Foundations.
  • You already lead enterprise AI architecture: Architect Professional.

Eligibility: the Partner Network rule explained simply

You can take a Claude certification exam only if you work at, or with, an organisation in the Claude Partner Network, and you register with that organisation's email domain. Anthropic states it directly: exams are available to members of the Claude Partner Network.

Flowchart of Claude certification eligibility: two questions and three outcomes. Question 1: is your organisation in the Claude Partner Network? If yes, register with your company email. If no, question 2: can your employer apply, or do you deliver work for a partner? If yes, apply free at claude.com/partners or use the partner firm, then register. If no, you are not eligible yet: start the free Academy courses and build a portfolio.

If neither answer is yes, you cannot book the exam yet, but you can start preparing for free today.

In practice that means:

  • A personal email will not work. Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook addresses are rejected. You need an address on a company domain that Anthropic has linked to your organisation's partner record.
  • Individuals cannot join alone. Organisations join the network, not people.
  • Joining is free. Any organisation bringing Claude to market is eligible: consulting firms, agencies, software companies, startups building on Claude, and enterprises deploying Claude internally. Firms apply at claude.com/partners.
  • New email domains take time. If your company uses several domains, linking a new one to the partner record takes 7 to 10 days. Sort this out before you book.
  • Customers who are not partners cannot certify yet. Using Claude at work does not, by itself, make you eligible.

What this means for different readers in India

  • Employees at large IT services firms (Infosys, TCS, Wipro, UST, Cognizant and others with public commitments): you are probably already eligible. Ask your learning and development team or your AI practice lead before paying anything; many firms fund the exam.
  • Employees at smaller companies, agencies and startups: ask your employer to apply to the Partner Network. It is free and the case is easy to make, because certified staff raise the company's standing.
  • Freelancers and consultants: you can work through a partner firm you deliver projects for, or have your own business apply if it genuinely brings Claude to market.
  • Students and job seekers: you cannot register on your own yet. Start the free courses now, build a portfolio, and sit the exam once you join a partner employer. The Claude training offered through Maattam can also arrange exam access through an Anthropic partner network company (details below).

One warning: some websites sell Claude practice exams and "certification packages" without mentioning this rule. Confirm you can register before spending money on exam vouchers or prep material.

How to get Claude certified: step-by-step registration

Once eligibility is confirmed, registration takes under an hour. The steps below follow the process reported by candidates after exam delivery moved to Pearson on June 30, 2026.

  1. Confirm your organisation is in the Claude Partner Network. Ask your manager or L&D team, or have your firm apply free at claude.com/partners.
  2. Create your Anthropic Partner Academy account with your company email. The Academy runs on Skilljar.
  3. Download the exam guide for your track from its certification page. Anthropic treats this guide as the authoritative scope of the exam, and it includes sample questions.
  4. Complete the free preparation courses for your track in the Partner Academy (see the preparation section below).
  5. Choose your certification and pay by card inside the Partner Academy. Check first whether your company's partner tier gives you a discount.
  6. Set up your Pearson profile. The name must match your government ID exactly. Pearson will not let you test with a mismatch, and you lose the fee. Request corrections at least 24 hours before your slot.
  7. Book your slot: online proctored through OnVUE from home, or at a Pearson test centre. For online exams, use a quiet room, a stable internet connection and a working webcam.
  8. Take the exam. You see your result on screen immediately.
  9. Claim your Credly badge and add it to LinkedIn and your resume.
  10. Renew within 12 months. On-time renewal is free: you review what changed and complete a short non-proctored assessment. If it lapses, you must retake the full exam at full price.

If you fail

You can retake after 14 days the first time, 30 days the second time and 90 days the third time, with a maximum of four attempts per exam in any rolling 12 months. Each retake costs the full fee again, less any partner discount. Use the domain breakdown on your score report to focus your study.

Claude certification cost in India (in rupees)

A Claude certification exam costs about ₹9,400 to ₹16,600 at list price, and roughly ₹9,800 to ₹17,300 once a typical Indian card's foreign transaction charges are added. The table uses an exchange rate of ₹95 per US dollar, close to the October 2026 rate.

ExamList priceIn rupees (at ₹95)With typical card chargesWith 50% partner discount
Associate – Foundations (CCAO-F)$99₹9,410₹9,790₹4,700
Developer – Foundations (CCDV-F)$125₹11,880₹12,370₹5,940
Architect – Foundations (CCAR-F)$125₹11,880₹12,370₹5,940
Architect – Professional (CCAR-P)$175₹16,630₹17,310₹8,310

Rupee figures are rounded to the nearest ₹10. Exchange rates move daily, so check the rate on the day you pay.

How the card charges work

The exam is billed in US dollars, so your bank treats it as an international transaction. Most Indian credit and debit cards add a foreign currency markup of 1.5% to 3.5%, and 18% GST is charged on that markup. At a 3.5% markup, the effective extra cost is about 4.1%, which is what the "typical card charges" column assumes.

To reduce it:

  • Use a card with zero or low forex markup. Several Indian banks and fintech cards offer this.
  • Make sure international online transactions are enabled on your card before checkout, or the payment may fail.
  • Check the final amount at checkout, including any applicable taxes, before you pay.

Partner discounts

Discounts depend on your company's tier in the Claude Partner Network. Registered tier partners pay full price. Select, Preferred and Global Premier partners get 50% off automatically at checkout, and Global Premier partners pay nothing until December 31, 2026. If you work at a large IT services firm, ask before paying from your own pocket.

The real budget

The exam fee is the smallest part. Plan for:

  • Retakes: each attempt costs the full fee again. Failing once roughly doubles your exam cost.
  • API usage while practising: building real projects on the Claude API costs a little in usage charges, usually small if you work efficiently.
  • Study time: the Architect track rewards hands-on building, not reading. Expect weeks of practice, not days.
  • Training (optional): structured coaching shortens preparation and reduces the risk of a paid retake.

Free preparation through Anthropic Academy

You can start preparing today, for free, even before you are eligible to register. Claude Academy offers video courses with quizzes, and most award a completion badge. Partner-specific prep courses for each exam sit in the Anthropic Partner Academy once your company is a member.

Courses alone are not enough

The Architect exam is scenario-based. It rewards design judgment, such as knowing when a business rule needs a hard check in code rather than a stronger instruction in the prompt. You build that judgment only by building things. Alongside the courses:

  • Build three small projects that match the exam scenarios: a support agent that uses tools, a multi-step research workflow, and a structured data extraction pipeline that returns validated JSON.
  • Use Claude Code daily on a real repository. Practise CLAUDE.md files, custom commands, skills, hooks and plan mode.
  • Connect an MCP server to a real data source and handle its errors properly.
  • Work through the sample questions in your exam guide. They are now the only official practice questions.
  • Read what is out of scope in the guide, such as fine-tuning and API pricing calculations, so you do not waste study time.

As the author of this guide, I completed Anthropic Education coursework in Claude, agentic AI and MCP, including Claude Code in Action, AI Fluency: Framework and Foundations, Introduction to Agent Skills, and Introduction to Model Context Protocol. The biggest lesson: the courses explain the concepts, but confidence comes from shipping working agents and skills for real client work. You can see how we apply the same ideas in our AI implementation service and in the AI Business Automation Course, which covers workflow automation with n8n.

Claude certification training through Maattam

Brain Cyber Solutions is a Digital Growth, AI & Automation Company headquartered in Edappally, Ernakulam, Kerala, working in search since 2005. Through Maattam, the AI learning brand under which Brain runs its AI courses, we make Claude certification training available to learners who want guided preparation.

Who delivers the training. The classes are handled by a company that is already a member of the Claude Partner Network. Its trainers are professionals who are already Anthropic-certified, so you learn from people who have passed these exams themselves. Brain Cyber Solutions offers the programs through the Maattam brand, for learners in Kerala, across India and in the Gulf. The training prepares you for the skills the exams test. It does not issue an Anthropic certification; only Anthropic can do that, through its proctored Pearson exams.

Two programs, both live online for 21 days. Classes run on weekday evenings (Indian Standard Time) for 90 minutes: one hour of training and 30 minutes of questions. Both include weekly tests, sample question papers and a full mock exam in the real format (60 questions in 120 minutes). A missed class can be attended in the next batch.

Both programs share the first six days of basics, then split into their own tracks, and finish with two days of exam readiness. You can pay by UPI, credit card or debit card, and EMI is available. The fee covers the training and access to Anthropic's exam system through the Anthropic partner network company that delivers the classes, because that is the only route to Anthropic's exam system and study materials. Anthropic's own exam fee is not included and is paid separately.

Not sure which exam fits your role? Message us and we will suggest one, or see all our training programs.
